Avoid the crowds with this exclusive, luxury SUV tour. We go where the tour buses can’t, visiting many of the more private and family owned wineries in Napa Valley. The itinerary is open, and your expert guide can help you with recommendations for tours and tastings. We usually visit 3-5 wineries in the course of the day, and lunch can be in a sit-down restaurant or picnic style at a winery or vineyard. Requests for specific wineries are usually possible if we are notified ahead of time.
There can be no doubt that the best U.S. wines come from Napa Valley. The thirty-mile valley showcases over two hundred wineries, and has long been synonymous with natural beauty, a comfortable lifestyle, and world-class wine. Napa Valley’s climate and soil have made it one of the world’s greatest wine growing regions. It has long been known for its ability to grow Bordeaux grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. It was later discovered that the southern part of the valley, particularly the “Carneros Region” next to the San Francisco Bay, was ideal for growing the grapes of Burgundy including Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Here are some of our favorites:
UP-VALLEY: CALISTOGA / ST. HELENA
Chateau Montalena, Schramsberg, Markham, Arger Martucci, Kelham, Venge, Sterling, Rombauer, Elhers Estate, Beringer or Clos Pegase
MID-VALLEY: RUTHERFORD / YOUNTVILLE / OAKVILLE
COPIA, Grgich Hills, Cain Cellars, Franciscan, Neibaum-Coppola, Cakebread Cellars, Mondavi, Peju, Silver Oak, Far Niente, Plumpjack, Domaine Chandon or Rutherford Hill.
DOWN-VALLEY: CARNEROS
Bouchaine, Artesa, Acacia, Homewood (Sonoma), Schug (Sonoma)
MOUNTAINS: SPRING / HOWELL / VEEDER / STAG’S LEAP
Robert Keenan, Jarvis, Barnett Vineyards, Buehler, Cain Cellars
The small size of our group enables us to go to all types of wineries; from some of the most nationally known and premiere establishments, to places so small that we will taste wine in their dining room or back porch. You can observe the entire wine making process, from the vineyard to the bottle.
We do our tours in new Ford Expeditions, complete with comfortable leather seating for six, rear climate control, and privacy tinting. Larger vehicles can also be arranged.
PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE A 2 PERSON MINIMUM FOR THIS TOUR. IT IS RECCOMENDED THAT YOU BOOK AT LEAST 1 WEEK IN ADVANCE OF YOUR PREFERRED TOUR DATE, HOWEVER, BOOKINGS WITH SHORTER ADVANCE NOTICE CAN SOMETIMES BE ARRANGED
*Passengers traveling with toddlers or babies, you MUST purchase a child ticket and are responsible for bringing a child seat for your child. California Highway Patrol requires by law a child seat for any child under 6 years old. Babies under 1 year and 20 lbs or less need to be in the front seat facing the rear of the vehicle.
